Message From The President

Thank you for visiting the ISU website. I extend warm greetings from the Governing Council, Management and staff of the Institution of Surveyors of Uganda (ISU). As the only recognized Professional Association Body for Surveyors within Uganda, we have positioned ourself to devise solutions that foster a positive change for the built and natural environments in Uganda. Working together with the Surveyor’s Registration Board (https://www.srb.go.ug/), the regulators of the Survey Profession in Uganda as per Surveyor’s Registration Act, we provide the much-needed professional leadership that guarantees professional progression of our membership, while promoting and enforcing the highest professional standards in the development and management of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure within Uganda.

In this effort, we have created critical partnerships with International Professional Bodies such as the Federation for International Surveyors (FIG) (https://www.fig.net/), International Valuations Standards Council (IVSC) (https://www.ivsc.org/), International Cost Engineering Council (ICEC) (https://www.icoste.org/), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) (https://www.rics.org/), to provide a foundation that ensure that the Survey Profession in Uganda is benchmarked on the International Best Practices and as well ensure the best service for our clientele by all our membership. Our work with others provides a foundation for confident markets, pioneers better places to live and work and is a force for positive social impact.

With over 2,000 Surveyors at various levels of membership, we provide highly qualified trainees and professionals, and offices across all cities of Uganda.

Working with our Line Ministries of Lands Housing and Urban Development, Ministry of Works and Transport as well as Ministry of Water and Environment, we are ideally placed to influence policy and regulation for the different survey disciplines in Uganda. We then work to create and embed standards in order to protect consumers and businesses.

As the 32nd Governing Council, we shall continue to build on the foundation that has been created by earlier governing councils to create a sustainable professional environment for our membership in a manner that cultivates sustainability within the built environment in Uganda.

Lastly on my behalf and on behalf of the 32nd Council, I want to thank our membership for giving us the mandate to steer our Institution forward.
